Description

Aptly named, Synchronize by Anthony Chmielewski is a high-energy marimba quartet requiring all four players to be cohesively dialed in to the groovy underpinnings of the piece.

Making heavy use of syncopation and interlocking rhythms, the piece is structured around the opening bass marimba riff and the bluesy melody that follows. Musical layers grow more complex, and flashy, split licks are employed toward the explosive conclusion. Each player only requires two mallets, and is performable on 3 instruments (with M1 and M4 sharing a 5-octave marimba). This will be an entertaining showpiece to highlight the virtuosity of 4 unified mallet players.

Synchronize ships as a fully bound score or as an instant PDF download for printing or tablet viewing. Individual parts come exclusively in PDF format.

Instrumentation

  • 4 Marimbas* — (2) 4-octave, (1) low A, (1) 5-octave

*may be performed with 3 marimbas (eliminating a 4-octave and sharing the 5-octave)
