Description

As one of the most famous Spanish classical guitar pieces of the 20th century, Asturias-Leyenda by Albéniz has found its way to the rosewood bars of the marimba in many different renditions. Gifford Howarth's new arrangement can stand alone as its own marimba solo or better yet can feature a large ensemble of mostly beginning-level accompaniment. This works very well to have younger groups backing a featured solo performer and offers a fresh new take on this classic piece of literature.

This piece comes as a professionally printed and bound score and includes individual parts in PDF format for printing or for tablet viewing.

Instrumentation

  • 2 glockenspiels
  • Xylophone
  • Chimes
  • 2 vibraphones
  • 3 marimbas—(1) low A or low E, (2) low A
  • 4 timpani
  • Drums (piccolo snare, snare drum, bongos, 4 concert toms, bass drum)
  • Cymbals (crash cymbals, 2 suspended cymbals)
  • Accessories (mark tree, castanets, 2 triangles, tambourine)
  • Tam tam
