TMEA Time

Drumroll, please! We’re excited to be heading back to San Antonio for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention from February 8-10!

Since our time at TMEA just last year, we’ve released 10 new solos, 37 new ensembles, 3 books, and a whole slew of new pieces have just been added to the latest UIL list. We’ll have all of this on hand (along with the entire catalog) at Booth 1168.

Easy as 1-2-3…4

Simply Four is your go-to guide for learning four-mallet technique. Developed by Gifford Howarth, this book is a sure thing for new students embarking on their four-mallet journey. It methodically develops the technique from its building blocks like grip and finger placement to technical exercises and inventive etudes that students will love. Say goodbye to four-mallet fears and hello to keyboard confidence!

New Advanced Marimba Solo

Just like a bird taking its first flight, we learn to spread our wings and soar thanks to life’s challenges. Taking Flight by Kyle H. Peters is a metaphor for independence, resilience, and conviction on your unique journey. Written for an advanced player, the piece captures the essence of leaving the nest for the first time. Craft your own story with the rubato and expression in Taking Flight.

Drumming Fun for Younger Students

Get ready for a percussion adventure with Wham Bam! Bucket Jams by Hunter Stricklin. This groovy collection of 19 pieces for buckets, auxiliary percussion, and backing tracks is designed for elementary to middle school percussionists. The book focuses on teaching basic drumming skills while students are having a blast!

Wham Bam! Awesome-ness:

  • Short & easy to learn – most pieces are under 1 minute!
  • 19 groovy pieces perfect for elementary & middle school students
  • 3 backing tracks for each piece (slow, medium, & fast tempi)
  • No buckets? No problem! Grab a chair, practice pad, or virtually any surface you can find to learn & perform these exciting pieces!

A Flam-a-licious Classic

Unearth a classic drumline exercise, Flammus, crafted by Murray Gusseck for the Santa Clara Vanguard. This exercise challenges players to groove while mastering blazing-fast (or tortoise speed, if that’s your thing) flam drags. Ready to test your technical mettle? Dive into the drumline legacy!
