Melody in Repose is a short, medium-level piece for solo marimba.
Michael Charles Smith opens the piece with a hushed, motoric figure in 7/8 that establishes the foundation for the rest of the work. This figure goes through several different chord changes, with the melody being presented in the right hand. This is another great work for developing four-mallet marimba players who want to work on melody and accompaniment in odd-meters.
Melody in Repose is dedicated to the Shirley B. Smith, Michael's grandmother, for whom the piece was written on her 90th birthday.
This piece ships in a printed, professionally bound folio with a full color cover.
