Description

Ready for a trip in the Way, WAY Back Machine? The 1992 tenor section of the Santa Clara Vanguard is often regarded as one of the best tenor sections in DCI history. Three of its members won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at the DCI solo competition in 1992, and the five-man line decided to compete as a group in the percussion ensemble category as well. This marked the first time an ensemble comprised of marching tenor drums only had ever competed in the I&E category at DCI. The piece received a standing ovation and a 5th place finish overall.

The piece contained contributions from each member of the quadline—Murray Gusseck, Matt Altmire, Colin McNutt, Michael Apodaca, and Mark Campbell. After much digging, transcribing, and stringing together lost video footage, this historic and groundbreaking ensemble is now available for all!

This piece comes as a professionally printed and bound score and includes individual parts in PDF format for printing or for tablet viewing.

This solo also appears in the tenor solo
compilation book Violent Tenor Cream.
