Chad Heiny’s Elements not only serves as a programmatic piece representing natural elements through musical devices such as texture, phrasing, style, and tonality, it also functions as a study in the “elements of music,” like rhythm, harmony, melody, time signature, and dynamic range. Because the players are sharing a single marimba, a high level of cohesion and intimacy can be achieved in performance, especially when great care is taken in the selection of mallets.
Included with a purchase of this piece are four ambient audio tracks (optional), one for each movement. These tracks provide a perfect backdrop for the spirit and character of each movement and will engage the performers as well as the audience.
Elements comes with two copies of the full bound score (one for each player, no page turns required per movement). It also includes audio recordings, optional audio accompaniment tracks, and individual parts in PDF format for printing or for tablet viewing if choosing not to read from scores.
• Marimba 4.3-octave (low A)*
• Amplification system (if performing with included audio accompaniment tracks)
*Shared marimba
