Written by Kyle H. Peters with the developing 4-mallet marimbist in mind, Nimbus is an effective and musical vehicle for tackling some of the most fundamental skills required by today’s repertoire. It is written to be performed on a 4.3-octave (low A) marimba.
Through the use of a single alternating stroke ostinato in one hand, and a lead melody in the other, players will contend with the musical relationship between these two roles. Melody and accompaniment shift hands midway through the piece, making this a great solo to study musicianship and technique. Simple, infrequent harmonic progressions and an accessible melody would make Nimbus equally effective for private study or public performance.
