Description

Schlitz & Giggles is an oft-requested core battery warm-up by Murray Gusseck that was a core exercise of the Santa Clara Vanguard in the late 90s and beyond. At first glance, it is a benign-looking tap/accent exercise in 12/8. Yet playing it well is deceptively difficult!

At its core, Schlitz & Giggles is designed to be a vehicle for a wide variety of variations on the basic tap/accent foundation, but in a fun "jump blues" feel. It can be used to work on drags, ruffs, tap rolls, buzz rolls, and pretty much anything else you can dream up! Some of the most popular SCV variations are provided in the notes section to get you started.

The simplicity of the basic pattern allows for extremely wide tempo variations, and even the most advanced drumlines can find something to chew on here. Play it once, or on repeat, for a fun and accessible way to drill some basic battery technique!

Use of this product is governed by the license terms outlined here.

Instrumentation

• Marching snare drums
• Marching tenors
• Marching bass drums (5)
